Urge Governor Newsom to Sign SB 461 to Ensure State Employees Have Time Off for Religious/Cultural Holidays
Celebrating Religious and Cultural Holidays Is a Right—Not a Luxury
There are a number of religious holidays that are not recognized as holidays for state employees, such as Eid al-Fitr, Diwali, Rosh Hashanah, Ash Wednesday, and many others. These holidays hold significant meaning within different religious groups and the communities that engage in these celebrations. Employees are required to then use their personal time off and explain the holiday to employers in order to celebrate the holiday. This bill ensures religious and ethnic minorities in the California State Service are permitted time off for the observance of significant holidays.
TAKE ACTION
Fill out the information below to urge Governor Gavin Newsom to ensure inclusivity for state employees by signing SB 461 into law.
